The launch of Amrit Bharat Express trains marks another major step by Indian Railways to improve long-distance connectivity for common passengers. The Ministry of Railways is preparing to flag off nine new Amrit Bharat Express services, which will connect nine Indian states through some of the country’s busiest migration and employment corridors.
These trains are designed as non-AC, affordable, long-distance services, aimed at passengers who travel frequently for work, education, and family reasons. With routes stretching from the Northeast to South and West India, Amrit Bharat Express trains are expected to play a key role in easing pressure on existing mail and express services.
Why Amrit Bharat Express Trains Are Being Introduced
According to the Ministry of Railways, these new trains are being introduced on routes passing through Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar—regions that contribute significantly to India’s migrant workforce. During festive seasons and peak travel periods, these routes witness heavy passenger volumes and overcrowding. The Amrit Bharat Express trains are meant to provide reliable, comfortable, and cost-effective connectivity, ensuring smoother travel for passengers commuting across multiple states over long distances.
States That Will Be Connected by the New Trains
The nine Amrit Bharat Express services will originate from West Bengal and Assam and pass through or connect several major states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. This wide geographic coverage makes the Amrit Bharat Express one of the most important non-AC train initiatives for long-distance travel in recent years.
